Strawberry hemp protein flapjacks!

Today was pretty much the same as yesterday in terms of just staying at home with Sienna. I got a few bits done for the business that I wanted to share because I really like them! Yes, that might be me blowing my own trumpet, but hey, it took a lot of work ;)!

This is a sign for my mum’s summer house, I’m really happy with the finished product 🙂

& these are little house numbers. I think they are so cute! 🙂

So I was busy doing that all morning and looking after Sienna of course. When she went for a nap I started a workout, I was 1/3 of the way through when the delivery man came with a massive box for me. It was a delivery c/o Good Hemp Nutrition.

Oo look at all those goodies! If you’re not familiar with hemp protein here’s the low down:

-It is a complete source of protein (like meat)
-It includes all the Essential Amino Acids
-It’s extremely fast to absorb into the body
-It’s easily digestible and won’t make you bloated like whey products
-It’s a powerful source of dietary fibre
-It’s natural & sustainable to grow in the UK without chemicals
-It’s the only protein that naturally contains Omega 3
-It’s lactose, gluten, dairy & GMO free.
to see more, check out their website.

So it seems like a wonder product doesn’t it? I was super excited to try all these, but in particular the protein powder. I’m lactose intolerant so sometimes whey protein doesn’t have the greatest affect on my stomach, it leaves me crampy and bloated. I busted out the strawberry hemp and the enormous shaker and threw some water in to make a shake.

I’m going to be honest, the smell put me off before I even tried it. When I did taste it, there was no way I could drink it. I was disappointed but I didn’t give up and immediately googled some recipes to use it in. I came across a flapjack recipe which I adapted slightly, put in the oven and sat with my fingers crossed.

They came out looking good, don’t let the weird colour put you off, that is the colour of the protein. They are pretty crumbly but they taste good! Much better than drinking it ‘raw’. I think this hemp is only going to be my friend in baking, but that’s fine with me. I love sweet treats and this can help make them healthier!

Strawberry Hemp Protein Flapjacks!
-20g butter or soya replacement,
-23g honey,
-48g oats,
-40g Good Fit Shake Strawberry,
-1 egg white,
-1 splash soya milk.

I simply melted the butter and honey, then mixed everything else together, spread in a small greased tin and put in the oven for 15-20 minutes on 180 degrees. I have a fan assisted oven though so maybe do 200 degrees if you don’t.
NOTE: This only made about 5 flapjacks.

These will make a great swap from my normal processed, low protein cereal bars i have for my mid morning snack. I have a feeling they will also be good as a dessert with peanut butter on!

So far, I am impressed with the hemp products even if I had to play around with them to find something I liked. I’m intrigued to see how the milk & oil taste!

Question: Have you tried hemp products? How do you use them?

*This was a sponsored post but all opinions are honest and my own.

PS. I did finish my workout in the end 😉

  1. Thanks for linking up!
What a fantastic idea to make flapjacks with it, I’m a bit funny and if I don’t like the smell I normally won’t even try it. Ugh. Well done on completing your workout too!
